Malamute

The fast, athletic rough-water machine

Stretched curves for taller paddlers. High-speed tracking meets Greenland kayak feedback.

The Rebel Malamute was born from a very specific riddle. Designer Johan Wirsén puts it this way:

-Our Husky model is one of our most popular kayaks, and it’s been in production for some years now. What’s happened, and what we noticed over time, is that people seem to get taller and taller. So the request for a longer version came from one of our dealers: 'Can you produce a longer version without increasing the volume?'

The Malamute has a slightly slimmer bottom of the hull compared to a Husky. And the loss of that volume is compensated by increasing the length of the hull. This can make the kayak a little faster than the Husky with the right paddler. And as long as you don't overload the kayak, it is still a fun and maneuverable kayak.

So if you are like 185 cm and up and not on the heavy side, or you feel that your legs are just too long for a Husky, the Malamute can be worth trying out.

Have fun!

Pure Efficiency Without the Bulk

  • Built for the Tall, Lean Paddler: Optimized specifically for longer legs and larger feet, giving you the legroom of a much larger boat while retaining a true, low-profile Greenland-style deck layout.

  • Higher Hull Speed: Thanks to its stretched lines and slightly slimmer bottom, the Malamute slices through the water effortlessly. With the right paddler, it is noticeably faster than the Husky.

  • Tested Across the Board: During development, Johan tested the prototype with riders ranging from 75 kg to 105 kg. While the heaviest, tallest paddlers pushed its freeboard limits, the sweet spot sits beautifully for athletic paddlers over 80 kg who want an un-buoyant, high-contact fit.

  • Lively and Maneuverable: As long as you don't overload the hull with expedition gear, the Malamute remains an incredibly fun, playful, and maneuverable hard-chine kayak that responds instantly to aggressive edging and hip control.

Key Features & Premium Layout

  • Classic Hard-Chine Soul: Inspired by traditional Greenland lines, delivering distinct, crisp feedback that tells your hips exactly what the water is doing.

  • Uncompromised Outfitting: Equipped with a premium Kajaksport Skeg, a generous 3-hatch layout plus an easy-access front deck daybox, and integrated stainless steel safety pins for bulletproof transport security.
